February is the new January; are you ready to tool up for the next twelve months?

It’s closer to the end of January than the beginning so you may be wondering why we’re bringing you this message of kickstarting 2021? Well, if we’re honest, January is a very busy month, and that’s before you take into account a global pandemic. For many, January is spent recovering from the festivities, catching up on work and oh-so joyous tax returns. However, it's so easy to get caught up in starting ‘your year’ on the first of January and fall victim to the pressures that brings.

So, let’s make February the new January! If the first month of 2021 hasn’t gone how you planned or you’ve simply not had the time to implement your new year plan. Then consider it a free trial and February is your chance to start the premium subscription.

Here are some of our top ways to tool up for beginning a new twelve months, whatever your chosen start date is!

Set goals

What do you want to take from the next twelve months? The answer will be completely personal to you. Try include a couple of bigger goals that will challenge you and take a few months or even all twelve to succeed. Then, consider some smaller goals that may be attainable in under six months and finally, some simple daily goals that you can begin implementing straight away. Do not overlook these small daily goals! Our daily habits shape our lifestyle and will be a huge drive in reaching your bigger goals. For example, if your end of year goal is to improve your fitness, commit to a short 20 minute walk each day you’re actively contributing to that overall goal.

Getting organised is the first step in executing any plan. Planning out your days or weeks in advance can help to manage tasks and importantly, track how you are spending your time. If you see you’ve got a few days of solid work ahead, then see if you can schedule a call with a friend or set aside some time for a long walk. You can invest in a smart diary or planner, or keep it simple with a good old fashioned to-do list. We stock this quirky Fruity Nudes Notepad which is sure to put a smile on your face each time you go to write on it!

Consume the right content

Think of our minds as little sponges. Whatever we surround ourselves with we consume. This can be quite daunting but the good news is that we can control what we fill our minds with.

Give yourself a social media cleanse. Consider what accounts you are following and how they make you feel. Unfollow the pages that you find negative on your mind, perhaps they fill your feed with horror clickbait articles?

Swap them out for some creative businesses if that’s what keeps you inspired. Or, maybe some educational accounts if you love to learn on the go. And, of course, who doesn’t love a motivational quote feed?

Podcasts are a great place to start in consuming the right content. Sophie Cliff’s Practical Positivity is a fabulous resource or Ferne Cotton’s Happy Place series.

Repeat after me: “We are going to actively seek positive and crucially, realistic content to consume online.”

Surround yourself with good people

If the pandemic has taught us anything it's to hug our loved ones a little tighter. Virtually, of course! Not even superheroes can operate alone. So if you’re planning on having the best twelve months yet, then surround yourself with people that are good for you and tell them how much they mean to you.

Eat well

It’s not rocket science. To give our best to the next twelve months we need to nurture our bodies. Eating well is a fantastic place to start. Consider your food the fuel that keeps you driving.

We love the Roasting Tin cookbook series for nutritious and well-balanced meals that don’t take a lot of time to prepare.

Prioritise rest

Consider this your official token of permission to take a break. It’s so important that you do. You won’t achieve all of your twelve month goals if you’re not taking some down time to recuperate. How you rest is up to you. Duvet day binge watching a box set? Perfect. Or, maybe you fancy a glorious bubble bath with a glass of wine and a face mask. Followed by some of our Daily Renewal Natural Face Cream to leave your skin feeling super smooth and hydrated.

Work on your mindset

Your overall mindset will ultimately determine the success of your next twelve months. That’s not to say that you need to have a smile on your face for all 365 days. You’re human, there will be down days. But, being able to have a grateful outlook and a resilient mindset will help you to better manage whatever comes your way, good or bad.

Changing or growing your mindset isn’t a quick fix. It requires some work. Journaling is a fantastic way to begin your mindset journey. Keeping track of your thoughts and emotions and actively listing everyday things that you are grateful for can really help you to achieve a more positive mindset over time.

However you choose to take on the next twelve months, we wish you all the best!
